'Winter Wednesday' To Bring 2-4 Inches Of Snow

The Winter Storm Advisory extends to portions of east central, south central and southeast Wisconsin.

WISCONSIN — An extra helping of heavy snow is on its way to southeastern Wisconsin for Wednesday, and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Advisory that runs from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow is expected throughout the day with total accumulations to be somewhere between 2 to 4 inches. Weather officials say that snow could fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in some stretches.

Officials are advising motorists to plan on slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Expect reduced visibilities at times.

In Milwaukee County, Sheriff Richard Schmidt issued a statement warning about the hazards of driving icy, snow-covered vehicles:

‘Serious personal injuries, costly property damage, and even deaths can be prevented by clearing icy snow off your vehicles before getting on the road. Take the time to clear your vehicle before law enforcement needs to get involved.’

"Several drivers reported that their windshields were smashed by icy chunks of snow flying off vehicles ahead of them yesterday and today. No injuries were reported. Wisconsin does not have a law specific to snow removal from vehicles," he said Tuesday afternoon.
