Wisconsin Breaks 24-Hour Record For Confirmed Coronavirus Cases
State officials provided a measure of good news, as Wisconsin received a shipment of 230,000 N95 respirator masks.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Wisconsin health officials recorded 11 new coronavirus-related deaths and more than 461 new cases over the last 24 hours as the state's running total of confirmed COVID-19 cases has risen to 7,314 as of Friday. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus reached 327 on Thursday.
Friday's confirmed case count surpasses any 24-hour total recorded in Wisconsin, though some of that is attributed to an increase in testing capacity, state officials indicated.
State officials provided a measure of good news, as Wisconsin received a shipment of 230,000 N95 respirator masks from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, providing a boost to efforts to obtain personal protective equipment for distribution in the state.

“I would like to thank FEMA for answering our calls for help with obtaining these critical supplies, which are badly needed by folks working on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19,” Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement. “Staff at the State Emergency Operations Center has been working tirelessly to acquire PPE, and these masks will be a welcome addition to the supply chain they have worked to establish. However, it only addresses a small portion of the ongoing need in Wisconsin for reliable access to PPE.
