Wisconsin Weather: Area Braces For Thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms have the potential to bring localized flooding into the area starting today and lasting through Thursday.

WISCONSIN -- The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southeastern Wisconsin as a front of severe thunderstorms moves through the area.

The National Weather Service says that periods of showers and thunderstorms will affect southern Wisconsin through Thursday night. Widespread showers and storms, possibly producing flooding rainfall, will be Wednesday night into Thursday.

Also, there is a threat for severe weather on Thursday, including large hail and locally damaging winds. Rainfall through Thursday night is expected to be up to two inches.

The NWS says that there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. West wind around 10 miles per hour becoming east in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service is also alerting the public that there is a moderate swim risk today. Breaking waves and currents are expected. Stay away from dangerous areas like piers, break walls, and river outlets.
