Wisconsin Weather Sunday: Rain, Sleet and Snow All Forecast
As a historic winter storm buries northern Wisconsin in snow, southeastern Wisconsin gets rain, sleet and freezing rain.

As a historic winter storm buries parts of Minnesota and northern Wisconsin in nearly a foot of snow, weather forecasters are predicting a nasty round of sleet and freezing rain throughout Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the rest of southern Wisconsin for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
The total snowfall by Sunday night will range from around 5 inches in the north to around 1 inch toward Kenosha. There is also a potential for a quarter inch or less of ice and glazing. Strong, blustery winds along with the glaze on trees may cause falling tree limbs and power outages.

Also, the strong winds will continue to cause buffeting, pounding high waves at the Lake Michigan shore. These high waves may cause localized lakeshore flooding or erosion from Sheboygan south to Kenosha. A Lakeshore Flood Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday.
Periods of heavy rain are expected to continue. This will cause some rivers to rise.
Winter Storm Fast Facts:
Hazards: Accumulating snow, sleet, freezing rain and strong gusty winds.
Areas Impacted: All of southern Wisconsin. The most snow is likely north of
Madison and Milwaukee. Freezing rain potential will be highest south.
Timing & Duration: Long duration precipitation ends Sunday night. Expect a
general trend of mix this evening to snow overnight/early morning to
mix Sunday morning to snow on Sunday evening.
Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice and very windy conditions. Travel will be dangerous . As colder air wraps in through Sunday night, any mixed precipitation will change
over to snow. Accumulations of 4 to 9 inches are possible, especially toward central Wisconsin. High waves and lake shore flooding is possible due to persistent, strong northeast winds.
Certainty & Considerations: Snow amounts will be very dependent on when
precipitation changes from a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to just snow. This is a very low confidence forecast.
