GREENFIELD, WI — A Milwaukee woman has died after a Greenfield police officer who was called out to do a welfare check on her accidentally drove over as she was lying in the road near 34th Street and Holmes Avenue Thursday evening, police said.
Police said they got a call to do a welfare check on the woman just before 6:30 p.m. but the officer who arrived was not aware the woman was lying in the road. The Greenfield Fire Department brought the 42-year-old to Froedtert with injuries that were thought to be non-life-threatening, but she later died at the hospital despite life-saving efforts, police said.
