Madison Cops Clash With Pro-Palestine Protesters At UW Campus

Police working to dismantle the illegal encampment at UW-Madison clashed with pro-Palestinian activists Wednesday morning.

MADISON, WI — Police working to dismantle the illegal encampment at UW-Madison clashed with pro-Palestinian activists Wednesday morning.

Officers arrived on Library Mall at about 7 a.m. They played a recorded, looping message that said the encampment violates university rules and gave protesters 15 minutes to remove their tents, Channel 3000 reported.

About 60 police officers arrived 20 minutes later — some with riot shields — and began taking down the encampment.

Students sat down, others locked arms, and chanted: "Free Palestine," "Shame," and "MPD stand down - students, students hold your ground."

Multiple arrests were made, including of at least one professor, reported Tyler Katzenberger.

Katzenberger also shared a video of protesters clashing with police.
