Oxford Veteran Honored Nationally for #StillServing

Oxford veteran Michael Seefeld is being honored for dedication to country and community in the VFW #StillServing campaign. The national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing (vfw.org/stillserving) campaign recognizes veterans who continue to serve in their community after the military.
Seefeld is #StillServing by organizing a school supplies mission for children in Honduras. He had deployed to Honduras last year and was struck by the needs of the underserved children there. He wrote home about it and Post 6003 members and Auxiliary members quickly mobilized an effort in the Oxford area to bring in donations of school supplies that would be shipped to Seefeld to distribute to students in Honduras. According to Seefeld, the response was “phenomenal.” More than 100 backpacks, 30 soccer balls, hundreds of dollars in school supplies and $700 in cash were donated. The Post and Auxiliary donated another $1,200 for shipping.
Seefeld has done similar projects when deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations and says he is #StillServing because he values helping others. He credits this to mentors throughout his life as well as having been raised by the “best mother on the planet.”
