1 Dead, 6 Injured As Driver Fled Police, Crashed: Police

Authorities said they chased the driver of a car whose passengers were hanging out the car's windows just before a fatal crash.

MILWAUKEE, WI — One man is dead and six other people have been injured after authorities say two cars collided as several passengers hung out the windows of one of the cars.

According to Milwaukee police, an officer on patrol Thursday on W. Center Street saw a car speeding west with several people hanging out of the windows just before 5 p.m.

Officers tried pulling the vehicle over near the 600 block of W. Center Street, but police say the driver refused to pull over and struck a vehicle that was heading east on the 600 block of W. Locust Street.

According to police, one of the passengers seen hanging out the window of the car was thrown from the vehicle in the crash and sustained serious injuries.

Police said that man, a 22-year-old Milwaukee man, was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle was arrested and is awaiting criminal charges.
