MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Two men are facing charges in Racine County Court after police found marijuana, a bag labeled "bud $" with $25,140 inside, and several other items inside their car after a crash, according to a criminal complaint.
Anthony J. Ortiz, 21, of Oak Creek, is facing a charge of possession with intent to deliver, online records showed. Emmanuel J. Ortiz, 26, is facing a charge of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and five charges of bail jumping, online records showed.
A Mount Pleasant police officer found both men near a car after a crash near Ptarmigan Road and Sunny Slope Drive on June 19, the complaint said. Officers also found two boxes of cartridges labeled "cannabis," a red backpack containing multiple bags of a green leafy substance, plus the bag full of cash that was labeled "bud $," according to the complaint.
According to police, Anthony claimed ownership of the firearm and the red backpack. The green leafy substance later tested positive for THC at the Mount Pleasant Police Department and weighed in at over 1,600 grams, or just over 3½ pounds, according to the criminal complaint.
Police did not find paraphernalia in the car, and suspected that the THC was possessed with intent to deliver, the complaint said.
