Milwaukee Man, 69, Dies In Crash; Second Driver Sought: Cops

Police are searching for the driver of a tan sedan after it drove away from a fatal accident on Monday afternoon.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County say they are searching for the driver of a tan sedan who drove away from a crash that killed a 69-year-old Milwaukee man Monday afternoon.

According to Caledonia police, rescue workers were sent to the intersection of Highway 38 and 4 Mile Road in northern Racine County for a two-vehicle accident just after 2 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said a Honda driven by the 69-year-old Milwaukee man was heading north on Highway 38 near 4 Mile Road right as a tan sedan was heading west on 4 Mile Road and approaching Highway 38.

Police said the tan sedan stopped for a stop sign, and began to proceed into the intersection, failing to yield the right-of-way to the 69-year-old Milwaukee man who was driving the Honda.

According to police, the Honda swerved into the southbound lane of Highway 38 to avoid striking the tan sedan. Police said the Honda was struck head-on by a pickup truck that was heading south.

Police said the driver of the tan sedan drove around the accident and left the scene. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but the 69-year-old Milwaukee man who drove the Honda died at the scene.

The operator of the pick-up truck, a 67-year-old Oak Creek man, suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital, police said.
