
American Metal Technologies is expanding, adding square footage to their facility on Durand Avenue in Sturtevant.
Representatives from American Metal Technologies will attend a special Sturtevant Planning Commission meeting Thursday for preliminary approval of the site plan for the addition.
AMT supplies parts to giant auto makers Ford and Navistar as well as a number of smaller companies. Gov. Scott Walker visited AMT in 2011 when the company expanded from 190 employees to 230 employees and had plans to add another 109 positions over three years.
Company President Ram Thukkamar started the company in 2000 with just five machines and seven employees. With the help of financial packages from state economic development programs, he will purchase equipment and add needed staff.
