Investigation Ongoing Into Fatal Train Vs. Pedestrian Incident in Mount Pleasant

The incident occurred around noon Wednesday, when a pedestrian stepped in front of a southbound train.

Old Spring Street has reopened after a fatal pedestrian vs. train incident prompted emergency crews to close portions of the Mount Pleasant roadway early Wednesday afternoon.  

Mount Pleasant police say they responded to the incident at 11:45 a.m., about 100 feet south of Old Spring St., after the pedestrian, a while male, walked into the path of a southbound train. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Racine County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to Mount Pleasant police. 

Investigators are still working to determine the man's identity.

Just a few weeks ago, a 29-year-old Franksville man was killed after he drove his car down a pair of tracks carrying an Amtrak passenger train.
