Deputy Rescues Man Stuck In Muddy Clay In Racine County
When a man became stuck thigh-deep in muddy clay on a steep cliff, a deputy came to the rescue.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — Authorities in Racine County say they rescued a man at Cliffside Park early Wednesday after the person became trapped up to his thigh in clay on a steep cliff.
The Racine County Sheriff's office sent deputies to Cliffside Park just after 9 a.m. Wednesday after Dillon Armstrong called 911, then had his cell phone run out of batteries during the call.
Deputies didn't know where the man was trapped, and began a search along the park's steep inclines near the shore of Lake Michigan. Authorities said they found Armstrong stuck about seven feet below the top of a steep, 45-degree cliff made out of muddy clay.

According to sheriff's officials, the cliff was severely eroded, and Armstrong's right leg was stuck in a muddy hole up to his thigh. Armstrong was unable to move.
Sheriff's officials said Deputy Jared Kroll climbed down from the cliff's heights with help of a throw rope anchored to a Sheriff's squad car. Kroll managed to dig Armstrong out of the hole, and bring him to the top of the cliff without injury.
