Drunken Driver Arrested With 82-Year-Old Mom In Car: Report

When authorities searched his car, a deputy found a blue plastic cup next to the driver's seat that appeared to contain wine.

RACINE COUNTY, WI β€” A Waukesha man has been charged with his sixth drunken driving offense after authorities in Racine County say he was behind the wheel with his 82-year-old mother in the passenger seat.

According to a criminal complaint filed this week in Racine County, Kenneth Cooley, 59, was driving west on Washington Ave. at Highway 74 at just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 when a Racine County Sheriff's deputy pulled him over.

Authorities say Cooley's white Toyota Camry struck a curb at the Highway 75 roundabout, was swerving into oncoming traffic, and was dragging part of his front bumper from a previous mishap.

According to the criminal complaint, Cooley initially denied drinking, but then later admitted to partaking that day. When authorities searched his car, a deputy found a blue plastic cup next to the driver's seat that appeared to contain wine.

Deputies administered a preliminary breath test to Cooley. The test recorded a .218 blood alcohol concentration β€” well over Wisconsin's limit for drunken driving.
