Ducks Shot At In Root River In Mt. Pleasant; Police Seeking Suspects
Racine authorities are looking to identify two people who were spotted with air rifles or BB guns shooting at ducks on Sunday.
MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — The Racine County Sheriff's Office said they are looking to identify two men who were spotted shooting at ducks on the Root River in Mount Pleasant this past weekend.
First, deputies were called out to Quarry Lake Park around 4:22 p.m. on Friday after someone was seen walking in the woods with a rifle, the sheriff's office said. Juveniles at the scene told police that they spotted the two men and confirmed one had a rifle, authorities said. Then on Sunday, police said they were called out to the area near the Root River Dam for a weapons violation with suspects matching a description from Friday's incident.
A witness told police they spotted two teenage boys with air rifles or BB guns—one had a handgun and the other had a rifle—shooting at the ducks in the river on Sunday near the 3600 block of Rapids Court, according to the news release. The witness said the teens fired at him when he confronted them about the ducks, police said.
