MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Highway 20 was closed for about three hours Monday after police say a dump truck full of gravel tipped over and emptied its contents onto the roadway in a rollover accident.

According to the Mount Pleasant police department, officers were sent to the intersection of Highway 20 and 90th Street just before 4 p.m. Monday on a report of a dump truck full of gravel crashed and rolled over just southeast of the intersection.

Police said the driver was heading into the intersection when the traffic light turned from yellow to red. Police said the driver explained he sounded his air horn out of concern that he couldn't stop at the intersection in time.

According to police, other drivers who were passing through the intersection at that moment saw the dump truck driver try to veer out of the way, only to result in the roll-over accident.

Police said the dump truck driver was able to get out of the truck, and no major injuries were reported.
