Family's Home About To Fall Into Lake Michigan

One Saturday morning, the couple was sitting in their kitchen when they heard a loud crash. Their porch ripped from the house and fell.

KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — Tom and Marge Lindgren were sitting in the kitchen of their home last weekend when they heard a loud crash.

The Lindgrens have been living in their home over looking Lake Michigan for decades. They raised their children there. Tom Lindgren even grew up there.

"I ran up packed a bag and my wife packed a bag and we grabbed the dog and got outta here," said Lindgren in an ABC report.

Their home overlooks the lake on a high bluff, and due to erosion, that bluff is crumbling from underneath.

Last weekend, that loud crash was the sound of their porch ripping from the frame of their house, only to tumble down the bluff and into the lake.

In fact, the entire house is now teetering above Lake Michigan. They received an estimate to repair the house, but at $300,000, it's just too costly. With costs being too great to save the house they were forced to leave their home.

They are currently staying at their family's house. The family says that any money would be helpful as they form a plan on what to do next.

The family has set up a GoFund Me account to try to raise some money.
