Leukemia Patient Says 'Thank You' to Fellow Students for Support

John Tierney is deeply touched by the thoughtfulness of his friends, classmates and the community for thinking of him while he undergoes treatment for leukemia.

Washington Park senior John Tierney is struggling with the proper way to acknowledge the support from the Park family and the rest of the community.

He said his parents raised him to say, "Thank you," of course, but to also take the extra step to let people know how much their generosity means to him.

Park senior Danielle Frost has been friends with Tierney since middle school, and when she found out he had leukemia, she said she wanted to put organize a walk to his house so he would know that people love and support him.

Participation in the walk costs $15 to help cover the cost of a t-shirt and a bracelet that both say "Team Tierney." All proceeds after expenses are paid will go for leukemia research.

To register for the walk, call the Washington Park Activities Office at (262) 619-4457.
