Man Helping Woman Move Crashes Her Car In Hit And Run, Passenger Says Driver Was Intoxicated

James P. Fonk II of Racine was charged with hit and run causing injury and two counts of bail jumping.

RACINE - A Racine man was arrested March 31 after police say he was involved in a hit-and-run accident while driving another woman's car.

James P. Fonk II, 28, rear-ended a car stopped at the intersection of Racine St. and DeKoven Ave. while driving a Jeep Cherokee hauling a full trailer.

Fonk fled the scene but was found after a Racine woman reported Fonk was involved in the crash. He was helping her move and dropped her off at work. He was supposed to move the items and return her car to her workplace but he confessed to her that he was involved in the crash.

According to the Racine County Eye, a passenger in the car with Fonk told police Fonk was intoxicated at the time of the crash. When asked where the accident occurred, Fonk gave police three different locations.

The driver of the other car received medical attention for severe neck and back pain, and Fonk was charged with two counts of hit and run causing injury and two counts of bail jumping for not having a valid driver's license at the time of the accident.
