Mount Pleasant Couple Arrested On Money Laundering Charge

After a lengthy investigation, law enforcement officials have arrested Abigail and Norberto Rapeta.

The Mount Pleasant couple that own the Dynasty restaurant, 2427 Lathrop Ave., was arrested today on a federal money laundering charge, according to Racine Police.

Norberto Rapeta, 41, and Abigail J Rapeta, 37, were both charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering following a long-term investigation by the DEA, City of Racine and Kenosha police departments, the Racine and Kenosha county sheriff’s departments, and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.

According to a press release by the Racine Police Department, the investigation stemmed from a 2008 drug distribution operation where Oiseil and Gener Jaimes, and other associates were indicted on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Abigail Rapeta is the sister of Osiel and Gener Jaimes. Norbeto allegedly used the money from the drugs to buy the restaurant, and other property.

“The investigation also showed that the restaurant was used to launder money of drug proceeds from the family’s large scale drug distribution operation,” according to the press release. “The restaurant and other properties have been frozen by the federal government pending the outcome of these legal proceedings.”

Special Agent Jack Riley said the agents worked tirelessly on the case.

“Our joint efforts in this investigation have made a real impact on the supply and distribution of narcotics in Racine by targeting the source and holding alleged members and associates of this criminal enterprise accountable for their actions,” Riley said.

The couple is in the custody of U.S. Marshals awaiting their initial appearance in Federal Court.
