Mount Pleasant Police Chase Ends On Dead-End Street, Juvenile Arrested
A Mount Pleasant police chase on Friday ended with a 16-year-old driver being arrested, police said. A 13-year-old was in the SUV as well.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — A Mount Pleasant police chase with an SUV on Friday ended on a dead-end street with Caledonia officers arresting an impaired 16-year-old from Racine, according to a news release from the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
A Mount Pleasant officer tried to pull the Kia SUV over in the 1400 block of Emmertsen Road around 11 p.m. after the officer saw the car driving recklessly, police said. The car sped away and during the pursuit, one of the passengers jumped out and ran away as the car continued to drive without headlights ignoring traffic signs, according to police.
Police ended the pursuit in the interest of public safety, but officers from Caledonia located the SUV and followed it to a dead-end street, police said.

When the car came to a stop, another passenger got out and ran away — neither of the two people who ran were caught, police said.
Officers took the 16-year-old driver into custody, according to police. The juvenile was impaired, and after getting medically cleared, was brought to the Juvenile Detention Facility, police said. A 13-year-old was also in the vehicle when police found it.

Police said the Kia was taken from the juvenile's mother without permission.
Police said they referred charges to the Racine County District Attorney including fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering safety first degree, operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 16 years of age in a vehicle and other traffic citations.
