Semi-Truck Breaks Into Flames After Fatal Crash In Racine Co.: Sheriff
A fire chief said the two drivers were killed, The Journal Times reported. The trucks crashed head-on Tuesday in Racine Co., officials said.
RACINE COUNTY, WI — Two semi-trucks crashed, one burst into flames, and multiple people were left dead in the 16000 block of Durand Avenue in Racine County Tuesday morning, the Racine County Sheriff's Office said.
The fire chief for the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department said two people, the drivers of both trucks, were killed in the crash, but other injuries weren't reported, The Journal Times reported in an update.
An initial investigation showed a semi-tractor pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling west on State Highway 11/Durand Avenue when it crossed the centerline and hit another semi-truck hauling a bulk-dry tanker, the sheriff's office said in its Facebook post.

The semi-truck that was headed west became engulfed in flames in the crash, officials said, while the other truck ended on its side.
There were "multiple fatalities," the sheriff's office said, but an exact count was not immediately available.

Authorities expected road closures on State Highway 11 between Interstate 94 and US Highway 45 to last for hours into Tuesday.
The sheriff's office is investigating the crash with the Wisconsin State Patrol.
