For residents who want to contact village board members but aren't quite sure how to do it, Sturtevant Trustee Chris Wright has a Facebook page.
Wright has been on the village board since 2007, and he has been on Facebook for a few years on a personal level. He set up a Facebook page for his 2013 re-election campaign, but this is the first time he's using social media as a tool for more everyday communication with residents.
Wright has made note of how few residents attend committee and board meetings, and he wants to be sure he's taking steps to keep citizens informed.
"We have so few people that come to meetings. I was looking for a way to make people aware of what is going on with the village," he told Patch via email. "An official page is a way to reach more people."
He said the goal of setting up the page is to give residents another tool for communicating with him and to post information for people.
"(This page) ... to help the people be better informed about this great village," he said. "(But) also to make it easier for people to reach out to me."
