New RUSD Superintendent Talks Change At 1st Meet-and-Greet
Dr. Lolli Haws is hosting a series of open houses for members of the Racine Unified community. At the first one Thursday at Park, she said change is coming because kids have to come first.
Dr. Lolli Haws talked Thursday night about change coming to Racine Unified that puts students first.
She spoke to a group of about 25 Unified parents Thursday night at Park High School during her first of three meet-and-greet sessions scheduled at the district's three largest high schools.
"We have to make changes that put students first, the organization second and adults third," she said.
She was answering a question from former RUSD board candidate Robert Wittke about how everyone talks about change but there isn't a lot of follow through because change is too often painful.
Haws nodded in agreement.
"It is hard," she acknowledged. "We have to figure out what's best for kids first and not the adults."
Haws also introduced her entry plan with a handout, which is available on the district's website.
The second and third meet-and-greets are scheduled for Aug. 22 at Horlick, 2119 Rapids Drive; and Sept. 19 at Case, 7345 Washinton Avenue.
