Nurse, Bystander Tried Saving Injured Cyclist's Life: Police

Authorities say a nurse and a second bystander helped police as they tried saving the life of a cyclist who died in a crash Wednesday night.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Two bystanders, including a nurse, tried along with police to save the life of a 53-year-old man involved in a bicycle accident Wednesday night in Mount Pleasant

A 53-year-old Franksville man is dead after authorities say he collided with a car while he was riding his bicycle Wednesday night.

According to the Mount Pleasant police department, first responders were sent to the intersection of Fancher Road and Luanne Drive just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report that the cyclist suffered a serious head injury in a bicycle accident.

Authorities say the Franksville man was riding his bicycle when he collided with a car driven by a 19-year-old Kenosha woman. Mount Pleasant police say the man was wearing his bike helmet at the time of the crash.

Mount Pleasant police say two bystanders, one a nurse, helped officers as they tried to save the man's life. The man died at the scene of the crash, police said.

Authorities say they suspect inattentive driving as a contributing factor in the accident, though have yet to release more specifics about the circumstances just before the crash.
