Police: Woman Lies About Name, but Tattoos Give Her Away

A Racine woman tried to lie about her name, police say, but her tattoos gave her away.

Mount Pleasant police say a routine check of a license plate led to the arrest of a Racine woman who tried to lie about her name until her tattoos gave her away.

Audrey L. Miles, 29, was charged Friday in Racine County Circuit Court with a single count of misdemeanor obstruction. If convicted, she faces up to 90 days in jail and/or up to $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Mount Pleasant police were on patrol in the Lake Park neighborhood Thursday when they ran a routine check of the license plate on the car in front of them. Returned records indicated the plates were expired despite the 2014 sticker on them, and the registered owner - Miles - was driving on a suspended license and she had valid warrants out of Kenosha County.

When officers made contact with Miles, she first tried to use another woman's name. Police say they ran that name but came up empty. They ran the registered owner's name and got a hit with an old photo of Miles from a stint in jail.

Police printed the photo and made note of the tattoos visible in the photo. When officers approached Miles again, they matched the tattoos in the picture with one on the neck of the driver.

Miles admitted her real name, and she was taken into custody and transported to the Racine County Jail. She was assigned a $100 cash bond, but jail records show she is still incarcerated. Miles' next court date is Aug. 22.

Court records do not indicate when or if Miles will be extradited to Kenosha County.
