Racine Unified Canceling Parent-Teacher Conferences: Report
Meetings with teachers can still be scheduled, they just won't happen in the more traditional way in March, a spokesperson said in a report.
RACINE, WI — Traditional parent-teacher conferences for the Racine Unified School District that would have happened in early March have been canceled to allow for more learning hours, according to a report by The Journal Times.
Parents are encouraged to make appointments with their teachers for a conference if they would like, a spokesperson for the district told Journal Times, but time for traditional conferences on March 3 and 4 will instead be reserved for asynchronous learning.
The extra days of learning come as an alternative to adding more time at the end of the year, and are because of a loss of required instructional hours when the district added early releases for some schools and extended its winter break because of the pandemic, according to the Journal Times report.
