Sheriff Increasing Patrols Over 2019 Holiday Season
Much like last year, the Racine Sheriff's Office added extra patrol hours to find and arrest drunken drivers.

RACINE COUNTY, WI — On Monday, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office announced they will be joining law enforcement agencies across the state in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which runs from Friday, Dec. 13 through New Year’s Day.
Much like last year, the Racine Sheriff’s Office added extra patrol hours to find and arrest drunken drivers. Last year, there were 22 impaired driving arrests. Of those arrests, four were made on the second day of the campaign.
During last year's campaign there was one sixth-offense drunken driver and an eighth-offense drunken driver arrested, sheriff's officials said.

Drunken Driving Numbers in Wisconsin for 2018
- There were 6,255 alcohol-related crashes that injured 3,292 people and resulted in 160 deaths.
- Nearly 28 percent of traffic fatalities were alcohol-related
- There were 22,294 OWI convictions.
