Six Arrested After Authorities Call Out 4 Police Dogs In Search

RACINE, WI β Authorities in Racine say six people - including three teenagers - were arrested after a traffic stop turned into a police chase during the early-morning hours of Oct. 4.
Racine County Sheriff's officials say a deputy was on patrol at just after 2 a.m. near 16th Street and Highway 31 when the deputy ran a car's license plates only to find the registration had expired.
The deputy attempted to pull the car over, only to have the vehicle's driver speed away. The deputy reported that the driver, later identified as Derrick Malik Jackson, 20, of Kenosha, ran a red light, turned off his lights and sped at more than 70 miles per hour through 25 mile per hour neighborhoods.

Authorities say Jackson nearly eluded the pursuing deputy, however was found a short time later parked on 15th Street at Russet Street.
Authorities say the deputy saw people getting out of the car and running from the vehicle. Racine police joined the Sheriff's deputy in setting up a perimeter in the area and calling out four police dogs to begin a search of the area.

Authorities say all six occupants of the car were taken into custody at various locations. The five vehicle passengers were found to be 14, 15, and 16-year-old girls. Two men who were also in the car were arrested.
Sheriff's officials say parents of the three girls did not know they were out that evening. Jackson is currently being held at the Racine County Jail on suspicion of fleeing an officer, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
Authorities say he also had an open warrant out for his arrest on a probation violation for armed robbery. He was also cited for numerous traffic violations, authorities said.
