RACINE, WI — Citing health concerns and a changing work schedule, Racine Alderman Tracey Larrin has resigned from the Racine City Council.
She sent the following statement to Mayor Cory Mason as her official resignation from office as Alderman of the Fourth District in the City of Racine:
“Mayor Cory Mason, please let this serve as official notice that as of Friday, November 8, 2019 I resign my position as City of Racine Alderman of the 4th District. As such, I will not be seeking re-election in April of 2020," she wrote. “I have given this decision tremendous thought and consideration and I have two major reasons for resigning:

“First, lingering health issues have begun to impact my ability to attend meetings and execute my duties as an alderman. I do not believe it is fair to the Council as a whole, to the committees on which I serve, or to my constituents who rely on me to represent them, for me to continue to remain in office if I can’t fulfill my obligations as an Alderman. I do politely ask to respect my privacy regarding health issues as they are personal.
“Second, I have recently switched employment and my work schedule also conflicts with City meeting times."

She made headlines earlier this year when it became public that she applied for a loan through a city program for homeowners.
According to a Sept. 7 Journal Times report, Larrin applied for a $20,000 city home improvement loan through the Rebuild Racine program. The move prompted the city to publish a mandatory "conflict of interest" notice about her application.
Larrin most recently won her bid for re-election against Dennis Montey in April 2018. In a Racine County Eye election preview story, Larrin cited her dependability and attention to the district's residents as her primary strengths in her reelection bid.
"I have served District 4 for the last two years with integrity and dedication. I have proven myself to be accessible and compassionate to the needs of the citizens and have helped them with their issues and concerns. And I will continue to be dedicated, accessible, responsive and responsible. I have always done my due diligence for the committees I am on and for the Common Council by reading committee reports and ask questions of departments to clarify items if needed BEFORE any committee meetings or Common Council meetings. I am looking forward to continuing to serve District 4 of the City of Racine."
