Village of Sturtevant Poised to Sue Racine County Over 4 Local Properties

Sturtevant officials served Racine County with a summons and complaint earlier this month and are likely filing a lawsuit any day.

Village of Sturtevant officials served Racine County with a summons and complaint this month over four county-owned properties, and is now expected to take further legal action.

Located on Highway 11, the parcels are among those the village has been trying to obtain since about this time in 2016, according to Journal Times. The publication reported late last week that a lawsuit was anticipated any day.

"The suit seeks to force the county to give four vacant properties along Highway 11, across the road from Farm & Fleet, to the village for future development or put them up for sale," the story said. "Racine County took the four parcels, and about 80 more that at one time had all been part of the failed Cobble Court condominium development, in November 2015 via a mass tax foreclosure."
