Villages Go For Frontier, Eperjesy, McKenna; Say 'No' to Gateway

Voters in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant cast ballots that echo the rest of the community.

Voter turnout in Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant for the Spring 2013 election kept pace, for the most part, with predicted state numbers; 28 percent and 21 percent, respectively.

And, like other communities in Racine County, incumbents seemed to rule the results.

In Mount Pleasant, incumbent trustees Sonny Havn and John Hewitt kept their seats by comfortable margins. Newcomer David DeGroot will take a seat at the dais for a first term, garnering more votes by far than either of the incumbents. Former town chair and current County Supervisor Mark Gleason was elected village president by a sizable lead as well over Trustee Karen Albeck.

Sturtevant voters also sided with incumbents, choosing to give President Steve Jansen a sixth term and to keep Trustees John Johnson, Chris Larsen and Chris Wright on the board as well.

When it comes to Racine Unified, residents in both villages cast ballots that echo results in neighboring communities, choosing incumbents Chris Eperjesy and Julie McKenna but also giving a resounding win to newcomer Mike Frontier.
