What's Your Favorite Home Remodel Project?

When we bought our house eight years ago, I saw its potential. At 80 years old, it hadn't always been treated kindly, and the kitchen was one of the worst rooms. 

One summer we gutted it, tore out the floor, painted the cabinets, removed the soffits and put a mosaic along the wall behind the sink. It was a true DIY affair, with my husband providing the back-breaking labor, and me the artistic direction. 

The mosaic will be the thing hardest to leave behind if we ever move to a new house.
