2012 Was a Year to Mind Our Own Business

For the most part, it seemed that Muskego Patch attended more ribbon cuttings than Christmas eve this year, and a look back at the business stories that ran, we weren't that far off.

Who was new to the business scene? Three new tenants came to the Muskego Centre mall, including US Box and Office, Daily Dollar and Juice Garden. However, the restaurant at the end of the mall made just as much news when Mama Mia's closed its doors.

At the Pick n Save Mall, new tenant Papa Murphy's was actually the old tenant as well, and Goodwill moved up from a trailer facility to a more permanent space in the mall. Nearby, Muskego Legal moved its offices up in the world to a suite in in the North Shore Bank building.

High Tide also rolled out its name and format to make way for a new Mexican restaurant in the same space.

Retail also found its way into an unlikely spot in the Muskego Business Park  as Purse Fashionista opened a space there. Also new to the Business Park was Masteq, which moved its operations from Franklin.

Young's Auto Body broke ground on its new facility early in the year and now features a new facility directly behind the old building along Janesville Road. On the south side of the city, Morgan's Collision also opened just in time for the height of deer crash season.

Aurora Health Care recently completed construction of a second clinic to the west of Kohls Department Store, and the ribbon was cut in early December.

We said a quick hello and goodbye to Island Ice Cream, which operated out of Idle Isle Park's pavilion, and came into trouble with vandals to make for a brief season.  Likewise a farewell to the M&I Bank at Janesville and Moorland came as BMO Harris Purchased M&I.

G&G Power Sports also closed its doors, and that space remains open.

Coming in 2013: two new retail malls, one at the corner of Moorland and Janesville, and another in front of GE Healthcare on Moorland are in the planning stages. which is being razed in the wake of Janesville Road construction, will re-emerge as a larger restaurant and bar later in 2013. 

Kohl's Department Store and ProHealth Care are also in various stages of renovations, and those will be completed in 2013.
