A Case of Mistaken Identity Leads to Arrest In Muskego

Michigan Man was mistaken as someone wanted for sexual assault; police cleared him of that charge, but found other warrants out for his arrest.

A case of mistaken identity didn’t end up working out too well for one Michigan man who was spotted by an astute motorist in Muskego.

Around 3:45 p.m. on March 4, the received a call from someone following a man in a car with Michigan plates. The caller said the driver looked like someone they had seen on TV earlier in the day, who was wanted in connection regarding a sexual assault investigation in Michigan.

Officers eventually located and stopped the vehicle. The good news for the driver was that it was eventually determined that he was not the person wanted in connection with the Michigan sexual assault. However, the bad news was that he had several warrants out for his arrest regarding other charges of check fraud and forgery in Wisconsin. The 55 year old Burton, MI man, was eventually released to the Appleton Police Department, where the charges stemmed from.  Muskego Police also charged the man with possession of K2 (a banned synthetic substance) as well.
