Acres of Hope and Aspirations Trying to Rebound From Flood
The rehab facility and farm is seeking the public's help after high water destroyed many items.

Acres of Hope and Aspirations is dedicated to helping people affected by serious brain injuries.
Now, it finds itself needing some help of its own.
The rehab facility suffered major losses from a flood June 12 and is looking for any help it can get, monetarily or otherwise, Director Lisa Alberte said.Â
Items lost include a dehumidifier, dryer, refrigerator, movie screen and theater system, fans, movies, pillows, blankets and more.Â
Acres is also seeking American flags and accessories for a Veterans of Foreign Wars picnic set for 11 a.m. July 7.Â
Acres had many patriotic decorations to decorate its "Garden of Hope" that were destroyed by the water, Alberte said.
But the picnic will go on, and Alberte is determined to make it a special day for those in attendance.
"We're so proud to host this picnic," Alberte said. "We want to make this a proud moment for all these veterans."
One of the veterans who will be at the picnic is living at Acres while he recuperates from a gunshot wound to the head sustained in Iraq.
The Acres grounds contains gardens, a rehab home and a farm, which is home to many animals which are also disabled. A team of health care professionals staff the facility around-the-clock.
Those wishing to donate to Acres should call (414) 422-4882.
