Polish Fest Announces Line Up for 2012

The 2012 Milwaukee ethnic festival season starts with Polish Fest, June 15-17 at the Summerfest Grounds. Milwaukee’s Polish Fest is America’s largest Polish festival, featuring cultural exhibits, Polish music and entertainment, vodka tasting and a mouthwatering variety of Polish food.

Here are a few features of this year's festival:

Enjoy “50 cent Friday” on June 15 when festival admission is only 50 cents from noon until 5:00 p.m. and $5.00 from 5:01 p.m. until midnight. Guests will enjoy a weekend of great non-stop cultural entertainment and a variety of Polish foods.

There will be an array of different musical performances by bands such as Grammy award winner Jimmy Sturr, Bon Jovi tribute band Bad Medicine and local favorites, which include Tom Anthony Group.

As in years past, the Non-Stop Polka stage will entertain festival goers and the Cultural Village main tent will have the following:

• Polish Heroes: Those Who Rescued Jews - an  exhibit from Galicia Jewish Museum, Krakow
• Selected Polish military regalia from 17th century through WWII
• Multimedia presentation of photographs of the bombing of Warsaw in September 1939

New this year will also be a display of Polish bagpipes along with demonstrations.  The bagpipes will be in a different tent from the main cultural tent.

Celebrate Father’s Day from 4-6 pm on Sunday, June 17 when all dads get in free when accompanied by their kid of any age. Children 15 and under are also free. Reduced admission is also available to those attending Sunday morning Mass at 10:15 a.m. at the Cultural Stage. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. for the Mass and will close promptly at 11 a.m. Those attending Mass will be admitted into Polish Fest for only $4 following the mass.
