Sadie was found in the Kentucky woods in April by Animal Control. She had been shot twice and left lying, unable to get up. She recently had puppies but the pups were nowhere in sight. The Animal Control folks, on their own time and with their own money and vehicle, drove Sadie to a No-Kill Shelter in Wisconsin where she received wonderful care. Joal Derse Dauer first saw Sadie looking at her with her pleading eyes on April 28th. Within a week, Joal decided she had to go back and adopt Sadie. Joal knew Sadie chose her in particular to help. So Joal decided that very moment to do everything she could to help that beautiful little Sadie to walk again.
Joal took Sadie to several different Vets, got her into various treatments and therapies. Joal bought all the special food and supplements Sadie needed. Sadie had surgery June 4th to remove the bullet in her forehead and remove a large cyst on her tail. The shrapnel from the other bullet is still in Sadie’s back. It took 4 weeks for Sadie’s large incision on her tail to heal. Starting Sunday, July 8th, Sadie resumed swim therapy along with various other intensive therapies to get her hind legs working again.
For the month of July Sadie continued therapy at home from Joal, before and after work. And Joal continues to take Sadie to several vets for all-day therapy. The wonderful Vets helping Sadie are:

Just like in paralyzed humans, learning to walk again takes time and practice. As of July 31st, Sadie is not as mobile. She still can not “walk”. (Soon “Saving Sadie” videos will be on YouTube). TOPS says daily therapy will work. TOPS has scheduled Sadie for her therapy until the end of October.

Sadie will be receiving special rehabilitation therapy that is exercising her rear legs to get them to work. Some of her therapy is rolling her hind quarters on a peanut-shaped exercise ball to stretch her ligaments, more swim therapy in a pool, power plate therapy with Joal, trampoline with Joal, chiropractic, hydro therapy-treadmill under water, essential oils, and electronic stimulation. Joal continues to feed Sadie the special foods and supplements (like an athlete) to build up her muscles and keep her healthy. TOPS says Sadie needs it all at least until October 31st.
We ask, if you can find it in your heart to help Sadie, please pray for her and send her your love.
