St. Paul's living nativity recreates a night so many years ago, and hopes to set the tone for the season.
It's been about three years since members of St. Paul Lutheran Church presented a living nativity, and it's no wonder.Â
Sally Wallner, Community Outreach Coordinator, said the production is an intense labor of love, involving planning that begins in April and using 300 volunteers.
However, next weekend the campus of St. Paul's will be transformed into Bethlehem, complete with torches to light the way into the parking lot, and Roman guards to help visitors find their way.Â

The story of the nativity and the birth of Jesus will be played out every 20 minutes beginning at the top of the hour from 6 p.m. to 9, with the last presentation at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, Saturday Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2.
The public is welcome to take part in the event, as Wallner said, "it's important for the community to feel a part of this, and we are also encouraging our own members to invite whoever they know to enjoy the evening with us."

She said it was also a less intimidating way for people to share a faith experience, as "people don't often feel comfortable going to church with you, but this is a nice way to share our message."
It's likely to be chilly and the entire presentation is outdoors, with live animals included, so there will also be an opportunity to meet with friends in the community at the Trinity cafe on the church campus.
As always, volunteers are welcome to help out, and cookie donations will also be gladly accepted. For more information, contact Wallner at 414-218-5197.
