Carp Shoot Will Light Up Little Muskego Lake
Carp shooters will use bows and arrows Saturday night in an effort to remove carp, considered a "garbage fish" that robs other fish of oxygen and vegetation.
Little Muskego Lake will be lit up Saturday night for what is not an ordinary night of fishing.
Shooters will use specially-designed bows and arrows in an effort to remove carp, which are seen as "garbage fish" that often rob oxygen and valuable vegetation from other desirable fish species.
Carp shooters will have bright lights powered by generators on their boats, which may reflect briefly onto homes but also provide for a scenic view, said Ken Fries, president of the Little Muskego Lake Association.

The LMLA is partnering with the Wisconsin Bowfishing Association for the carp shoot. The state Department of Natural Resources supports the shoot because of the harm carp has caused.
"So when you see the lighted boats, say hello and thank you to these WBA members," Fries said in an email. "They are doing us a big favor in assisting and maintaining the overall health and water quality of LML."

It could also pay off for fishermen—two carp have been tagged and are worth $500 if caught.
