Danny Haskell's Steps Up for Those Left Out After Fire
Spaghetti dinner at the local bar and restaurant raised awareness and $2,600 for three Muskego residents without a home after Feb. 26 fire

It was a tale of two Saturdays.

However, Saturday, March 3 wrote a new chapter, and raised hopes that while the fire took away all of the tenants' possessions, it also rallied the community to help them rebuild. Dawn Schwulst, one of the tenants, was at Danny Haskell's this past Saturday, a bit overwhelmed by events of the past week.

"I had stepped out to pick up some things at Walmart, and returned to the fire," Schwulst said. She, along with boyfriend Danny Klement and upstairs tenant Ashley Miller, were the focus of a fundraiser to help replenish their wardrobes and hopefully let them know they had support as they rebuilt their lives.
Manager Keri Addis told friends on Facebook she appreciated the turnout for the event, which featured a spaghetti dinner and raffles.

"A huge thanks to all who attended the Spaghetti Dinner/Benefit on Saturday. Thanks to the businesses & families who donated raffle items, volunteers and staff who donated their time. We are proud to be part of such a great community with such big hearts. Your generosity is truly appreciated," she wrote.
Overall the event brought in $2,600 plus donations of gift cards, furniture and other household items. Addis said she continues to receive donations at the bar and wanted people to know they've made a difference.
