Did a Snowplow Cream Your Mailbox? What to do Next
In the process of clearing city streets, it's possible the blades that removed snow also took your mailbox with it. Now what?

Most of our readers gave the street clearing operations in Muskego a thumbs up in the wake of Tuesday-Wednesday's storm. Unless of course their mailbox was a casualty of the clean up.
So as you pick up the pieces of your broken box, what recourse do you have with the city?
First of all, don't expect an even trade. Muskego's regulations will allow you to once again have a place for your mailman to deliver your cards and letters, but it's going to be the basic 4x4 wooden post and standard postal box. If you've invested $500 in a wrought iron mail masterpiece that got flattened, you'll be out of luck if you expect the exact same from the city.

If you live in a subdivision that places restrictions on the type of mailbox you can plant in front of your home, and the basic offer won't measure up, current policy is that $50 will be offered to the homeowner to pay for the replacement.
You can file a claim with the city if you're signed in as a user to the city's website here. There is a review process to make sure the claim is legitimate, so some patience is required.
