DJ's Demise: Razing of Tavern Ends an Era

The owner of DJ's Pub and Grill, Dan Hewitt, had to vacate by Nov. 1 to make way for the Janesville Road reconstruction, and more than four months later, the business was torn down.

Hewitt plans on rebuilding, and was able to garner new zoning from the city despite opposition from some residents. The new business will put a greater emphasis on its restaurant fare in a footprint that is double the size of the old structure.

The tavern had been in Muskego in various hands since the 1920s, when the Muskego Beach resort was in its heyday.
