Pius XI High School’s production of Phantom of the Opera

Muskego and New Berlin area residents Sarah Bakstrom and Melissa Theisen will be performing in Pius XI High School’s production of Phantom of the Opera at the Pabst Theater, April 19 – 22.Β

Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical Phantom of the Opera brings Gaston Leroux’s classic novel to life.Β  The Tony Award winning show set in the late 1800s, tells the story of a masked figure who lives beneath the Paris Opera House, claiming it as his own through a reign of terror for all who work there.Β  After falling in love with a young soprano, the Phantom devotes himself to her and attempts to make the woman a star.Β  The dark yet beautiful love story is the longest running show on Broadway and continues to be enjoyed throughout the world.

The Pabst Theater is the fourth oldest continually operated theater in the United States.Β  The theater was built in 1895, which is when the story of Phantom of the Opera takes place.Β  The rich history of the space will surely heighten the experience of an already thrilling musical.
