Firefighters Battle Muskego Blaze: Nobody Injured, 1 Cat Rescued
Firefighters from New Berlin and various other area departments were called out to help with the fire Monday near Lannon and Martin Drives.
MUSKEGO, WI — Various fire departments were called out early Monday morning to battle a blaze at a house near Martin and Lannon Drives in Muskego, according to authorities.
The fire seemed to start in a vehicle and had extended to the house nearby, according to a news release from the Tess Corners Fire Department. When authorities first arrived around 2 a.m., they found the house and three vehicles nearby in flames. Everyone was able to get out of the flaming house after a neighbor heard a car alarm, but the family's cat was still inside, according to the Tess Corners news release.
Firefighters called for assistance from other nearby departments as there were no hydrants in the area, according to the Tess Corners Fire Department.

Crews began searching the house as others fought the fire. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen in the attic above the home's living room.
Firefighters from New Berlin found the family's cat in the house and re-united it with its owners. The family was displaced after the fire, according to a news release from the New Berlin Fire Department.

Firefighters from Vernon, Brookfield, the Village of Waukesha, Big Bend and Franklin also responded to the fire on Monday.
The Tess Corners Fire Department said the quick action of neighbors ensured a timely response and helped to limit the fire's damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
