Flood Damage Relief Possible For Fountainwood Home
One of three homes that experienced flooding in recent years has qualified for flood grant dollars, which could mean as much as 70 percent in funding to repair damage.

One of three homes that had been plagued by flooding in recent years in Muskego's Fountainwood subdivision on Longfellow Lane and Saroyan Road has become eligible for grant funds through the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR). According to City Engineer Dave Simpson, a municipal flood control grant recently became available through the DNR, and one of the homes qualified because of the home's ability to prove losses and the number of events that it experienced.
The funding would offset costs of flood proofing the home, estimated at about $128,000, by 70 percent, putting the city's share at about $38,000.
The Common Council voted to approve a resolution for the grant Tuesday night, as it was a requirement of the grant application process. However the resolution will not necessarily commit the city to the project. Simpson said there may also be funds available to further reduce costs from the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District (MMSD).
