'Green Up' Means Clean Up or Face Fines

Green Up Muskego is May's focus, and police remind residents if your car doesn't run or isn't registered, get it out of sight or give it away.

Whether or not you were aware of it, Green Up Muskego started May 1st. This is a concentrated effort by the police department to insure that any vehicles in the public view are registered, running, and roadworthy, in order to be in compliance with city ordinance. Vehicles in this case include cars, trucks, RVs, and trailers that can be licensed.

So if you're a shade tree mechanic and have that 'project car' you've been working on, it needs to be out of the public view. If you have a vehicle that is not in compliance with the ordinance, and you are looking for a way to get rid of it without incurring any cost, E.J Salentine in Tess Corners is offering to haul it away.

Eligible vehicles will be donated to the Rawhide Boy's Ranch. If you are interested, please call Salentine’s at 414-422-0100 for details.

The 'public nuisances affecting peace and safety' ordinance that this falls under also includes provisions on posting signs. In this political season, you may proudly proclaim your support for the governor or for his recall but it needs to be posted out of the city's right of way and can't obstruct viewing for traffic at intersections.

Offenders will be notified, and if they remain non-compliant, a citation will be issued.
