Grinches Trying to Steal Christmas (Lights) in Muskego Neighborhoods

Muskego police have received a rash of calls from homeowners whose lights have been cut, and need your help in catching the culprits.

are looking for two suspects who have been seen in neighborhoods where a rash of vandalism aimed at Christmas decorations has been taking place in the last week.

"Apparently there are some people in Muskego who think it is just a hoot to go out and wreck the holiday displays that people put so much time, effort and money into setting up," said Lt. Dave Constantineau in his weekly newsletter.  "Since the first of December, our department has fielded over a dozen calls from people all over the city who have had their decorations stolen or damaged.  This includes deliberately cutting wires."

The areas affected include Cherrywood Lane, Kathryn Drive, Thornapple Trail, Victoria Drive, and the entire Fountainwood Subdivision.  According to police, "two young white males were observed walking in the area of Saroyan Road in the Fountainwood Subdivision, and we would like to talk to them.  One was wearing a red coat, while the other was wearing a green or 'camo' colored coat with a “Fargo” style hat.

The vandalism appears to be happening between sundown and 10:00pm, and while they are trying to keep an officer presence in those areas, coverage can't be 24/7.

"We are asking you to be our eyes and ears in your neighborhood.  If you see something or someone suspicious, give us a call.  If you see something that makes you say to yourself, 'I wonder what they are up to?' we want you to call us.  You can remain anonymous if you don’t want to be involved," he explained.
