Has Your Christmas List Gone to the Dogs, Muskego?

Pets are family members, and bring a lot of joy to their owners; so what's that worth at Christmas time?

I love my dogs, and I've always liked the saying that 'they aren't our whole lives, but they do make our lives whole.'

As long as I've had them, they have a gift under the tree (or at least are handed one on Christmas, as a dog toy in wrapping paper would never last long under the tree unattended).

However, I was shocked to learn that the average spend - per pet - for Christmas was $46.  Income levels did matter, as those making more than $50,000 per year would likely spend $57, and those under $50,000 said $29 was more like it.

Apparently, I'm a lousy dog-mom.

Aside from the fact that it takes my golden retriever mere minutes to destroy any toy he's given aside from tennis balls (which are less than $2 a tube), I doubt they get the difference between a box of milk bones and a $17 nylabone.

That said, I know I would feel guilty - GUILTY! - if I forgot to get them something for Christmas. I have two very different dogs, one the aforementioned destroyer, and another who is more passive, and even though he's not likely to destroy a toy, the other would take it from him and do the honors.

Locally, Muskego has gift ideas from and the along with its big box retailers, so if you're in the 'yes' category, they're no doubt a good destination for you.

I'd love to know if I'm joined by others who have not just their own pets but others' pets on their lists as well (for when you visit during the holidays and exchange gifts).  What is your limit? What was the best gift you got (in other words, what lasted the longest) a pet?

As I wrap my presents for the dogs, I figure I'll just use the white tissue, which is just as exciting for them to play with as the gifts inside.
