Muskego Likes Hovde by a Thin Margin

Tuesday's Republican senate primary in Muskego keeps the margin slim, but favors Eric Hovde over Tommy Thompson, who would ultimately win the statewide senate primary.

After a four-way Republican contest played out on Tuesday, to earn the right to face off against Democrat Tammy Baldwin in November. But how did the election look locally?

The Government Accountability Board had estimated only a 20 percent turnout statewide, and Muskego voters were apparently more motivated, pulling a 30 percent turnout across the districts.

Muskego liked Hovde, but as the statewide results reflected a win for Thompson, the margin of victory for the businessman-turned-political candidate was slim. In addition, Jeff Fitzgerald, who was the first to concede the race coming fourth in a four-man race, fared a little better in Muskego, coming in third.
